I have been a frequent visitor to Grand Canyon over the years, twice hiking down to Phantom Ranch. Before my visit this summer, I had begun work on this painting from photo references taken on a trip to the North Rim several years earlier. On returning to the studio, I knew just the direction to take it, having filled my eyes with the light and color of the canyon at sunrise, mid-morning, late afternoon, and sunset - a landscape of pure enchantment. Can't wait to go back!
